Odour neutraliser trial completed

Cockburn Cement (CCL) conducted an approved trial as part of number of ways it is investigating to minimise odour impacts from our operations.

The odour neutraliser was used on five separate occasions for an average duration of four hours each time on 15th, 18th, and 27th of March, and 3rd and 8th of July in 2019. This use was in accordance with the works approval that was granted for the trials by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER).

Following the preliminary trial conditions, CCL delivered a report to the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) and were advised there would be no approval to further trial the product due to evidence suggesting the odour neutraliser has not materially altered the odour.

CCL believes this is unfortunate as the odour neutraliser had potential to provide some benefit to the amenity of its operations which could have been validated following further trials and community feedback.

CCL is committed to working towards a successful solution to minimise the impact of potential odours in the community.
