Adbri played a key role in South Australia’s first major concrete road, the $985 million 15.5km Northern Connector, with the supply of over one million tonnes of construction materials.
Adelaide Brighton Cement, Penrice Quarry & Mineral, Southern Quarries and Direct Mix Concrete – all trusted brands of Adbri – have used their integrated business model to be a key materials supply partner to the project.
From the outset of the project our team worked closely with Lendlease to understand their requirements and where we could make the most difference. Our manufacturing facilities aligned its production schedule to peak construction periods, while our team focused on building a strong collaborative relationship based on doing what we say.
Prior to the first load of material being delivered to site, intensive product development was undertaken so we could supply a never used before cement in South Australia. Over a six-month period our technical team, utilising Adelaide Brighton’s state-of-the-art NATA accredited laboratory, developed a highly consistent and reliable Type Shrinkage Limited (SL) concrete that met the project’s unique specifications.
This in-house technical capability, combined with the scale of Adbri, provided our customers with the confidence that we would meet the projects supply requirements of:
The result is an impressive road that incorporates the unique strengths of Adbri and maximises local content within South Australia.
