Adbri and Cockburn Cement Limited (CCL) are pleased to announce the go ahead for the Kwinana Upgrade Project.
This $199 million investment in a state-of-the-art facility will consolidate Adbri’s two existing cement production sites (Munster and Kwinana) into a single operation servicing the Western Australian market.
The Kwinana Upgrade will showcase the latest technologies in cement production, with the plant featuring a lower carbon footprint with CO2 emissions projected to reduce by ~20% compared to existing operations. It also eliminates the need for heavy vehicles on local roads, currently used to transport material for cement production between sites, improving overall amenity for the community.
The upgrade has a planned two-year construction period, and once operational in 2023, cement production will transition from CCL’s Munster site to Kwinana. Lime manufacturing will continue to operate from the Munster site.
This investment demonstrates Adbri’s confidence in the WA economy and the continued strength of the resources and infrastructure industries which are underpinning the State’s recovery from COVID-19.
Adbri is looking forward to making this project a reality as together we help build a strong Western Australia.
