Energy transition – moving to 100% gas by end of 2024

  • Since 2021 we have increasingly phased out the use of coal and will move to 100% gas consumption by the end of calendar year 2024
  • During this transition a limited coal stockpile remained onsite to ensure continued supply of lime to the market until we could be confident of gas supply.
  • This has now been achieved by securing an offsite gas storage facility and will be further enhanced by new commercial contracts.
  • We will retain some coal handling equipment onsite to be available should a situation occur where supply is put at risk. This equipment may be repurposed for low carbon fuels pending further assessment.
  • The move to gas has led to a reduction on our Scope 1 emissions intensity reduction at Munster on our roadmap towards net zero by 2050.
