Cockburn Cement Limited (CCL) notes the Supreme Court’s finding to uphold the decision by the Magistrates Court to convict CCL of the six charges under s49(5) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986. It will now consider the reasons in detail.
CCL is a long-term partner of the State with a proud history of being part of the local community since 1955. CCL’s lime production is essential to the West Australian alumina and mining sectors, and represents an ongoing commitment to local manufacturing. As part of this commitment, and to address odour concerns raised in the local community, CCL has been conducting engineering trials at its Munster site which has been shared with regulatory authorities. CCL is working closely with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and the community to progress and implement our odour reduction strategy.
