On 30 July 2020, Cockburn Cement Limited was issued with a prosecution notice by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) alleging it caused unreasonable emissions, namely odour, from the Munster site.
Cockburn Cement has a particular focus on meeting environmental obligations and compliance with its operating licence. Cockburn Cement intends to defend the prosecution.
Cockburn Cement has been co-operating with DWER regarding its investigations into odour complaints in the Munster, Beeliar and Yangebup areas and has carried out its own work to ensure it continues to meet its environmental obligations and the requirements of its operating licence.
