Kwinana Cement Plant Opened

Investing in a strong future

For 70 years, Cockburn Cement has helped build Western Australia – supplying the essential materials used to build our homes, hospitals, schools, roads, infrastructure and mining operations.

In 2025 we were joined by Minister Madeleine King, industry partners and key stakeholders to officially open the new Kwinana Cement Plant.

This landmark development consolidates our two Western Australian cement operations into a single facility at Kwinana; ensuring we meet the needs of the state and our customers for decades to come.

Strategically connected to Fremantle Port via a dedicated conveyor system, the new plant features an advanced clinker handling system, modern milling technology, increased storage and dispatch capacity, and cutting-edge fully automated quality control robotics – delivering high-quality cement products with greater reliability.

Marking the end of an era, by the end of 2025 cement will no longer be produced at our Munster site with all production moving to Kwinana

 Building a sustainable Western Australia

At Cockburn Cement we know that the products we make today will help shape the future of Western Australia tomorrow. That is why we’ve made a long-term commitment to the state, our customers, and future generations – to ensure our homes, buildings and infrastructurestand the test of time.

Sustainability isat the forefront of the update, the cement plant has been designed to operate up to 20% more efficiently compared with the prior Munster and Kwinana cement plants thanks to the modern upgraded milling technology, reduced road transport and mobile plant use.

With an annual capacity of 1.5 million tonnes – enough to build 77 Optus Stadiums a year – the plant boosts supply security for key industries and our customers in Western Australia.

Thank you, Minister Madeleine King for celebrating this milestone with us!
