Partnerships
Through our partnerships, we bring together community organisations to develop programs of considerable significance for each group involved and help to facilitate opportunities that will have long-term benefits for our community.
South Coogee Primary School
In 2012, we partnered with South Coogee Primary School to enable its chaplain, Margaret Marriott, to spend an added day at the school working closely with small groups of students. This partnership has enabled Margaret to introduce PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) at South Coogee. PATHS is a program that engages children in learning how to change behaviours and attitudes that contribute to violence and bullying, how to express and control their emotions and how to develop effective conflict-resolution strategies.
South Fremantle Football Club
Throughout the first term of the 2011 school year,
145 students from South Coogee and Beeliar Primary Schools took
part in a six week Engagement Football Program run by our partners
at the South Fremantle District Football Development Council. 75%
of the students had never played any form of football before so it
was an opportunity for them to have access to the sport in a fun
environment with their peers.
District Development Manager, Brad Gardiner, said the Engagement Football Program was a standout success as it doubled the usual number of participants for these types of programs.
Cockburn Cement was proud to be able to offer the program to such a large number of children and help the Development Council achieve one of its key priorities to engage disadvantaged students in their programs.
